The mission of the Vermont Shamrocks is to provide hockey players an opportunity to play select level hockey while still playing for their local association or high school teams. Shamrock players are loyal leaders of their local association teams, yet the

16U & 19U  20-21 SPLIT-SEASON

The Shamrocks program was founded on the premise of supporting local hockey programs, supporting and encouraging multi-sport athletes, and at the same time working to provide the highest caliber ice hockey environment and program for the team-driven female ice hockey players in Vermont who want more and have a true passion for the game.

COVID-19 SEASON

The Vermont Shamrocks are committed to having National Bound Tier II 16 & 19U split season teams BUT will not skirt a single element of the Agency of Education and/or state department of Health COVID-19 guidance.

Any out of state players must be cleared by the Arena prior to travel to VT for practices or games.

We will seek to book enough ice in VT to hold a series of on-ice events involving our teams (playing each other and/or local youth teams) and/or teams from areas where travel to VT is permissible without quarantine.

The 'Rocks are members of the Eastern Select Girls Hockey League (ESGHL). Many ESGHL teams are based in Massachusetts. We do not know if we will be able to travel there this fall as of now travel to Mass. is not possible as it would require our athletes to stay home from school for the mandatory quarantine period. With that in mind we will not schedule games anywhere which will require our players or families to quarantine when they return home. There are new teams in the ESGHL based in Maine and NH so travel there may be more likely. We are working with the League about many possible solutions for this problem. The Shamrocks were 2019-20 16U ESGHL Champions and 19U Runner-up.

Being upfront and transparent has always been important to our non-profit all volunteer association. While we all hope for a relatively normal season we can promise nothing more than high-level hockey within Vermont if remains a safe and approved activity.

If the VPA and/or VT High School Hockey League cancels or delays winter sports or hockey specifically and hockey remains a VT Health Department approved and safe activity the Shamrocks would for the first time continue to operate 16/19 into the winter so our HS athletes can skate as much as 3-4 times per week. If HS hockey starts as planned the Shamrock fall season will end with the ESGHL Playoffs on the weekend before Thanksgiving. After the winter season, the Shamrocks plan to regroup in March for the New England and USA Hockey National Championships if qualified.

Our fees are low as they reflect only the cost of our ice time, referees, jerseys, shells*, bags*, socks, league fees, insurance, and web site fees divided by the number of players. Everyone pays including coaches kids, goalies, etc. If a family needs financial assistance money may be available.

19U Tier AA/AAA Tier II:

The team will be a nationally-bound USAH and will play a Fall schedule similar to past years against top 19U teams that start in August and runs through November and conclude prior to the start of the VT high school season. The team will come together again following the high school hockey season for the New England Regionals. The team is a member of the Eastern Select Girls Hockey League with teams from Mass., NH, & Maine.

It is understood that players may also be high school fall athletes and not available for every game. The Shamrocks Program is fully supportive of this and we schedule the majority of games on Sunday and Saturday evenings.

17/19U 'A'/White-Independent:

If there are enough interest and depth of talent the Shamrocks may again roster a second 17/19U team; this will not be decided until we get a better sense of how our fall will operate.
